Board Of Directors

Help a Family Ltd is a registered public company founded by a group of individuals committed to creating a charitable organisation that supports families in need within local communities. After three years of dedicated effort and with generous sponsorship from Away We Go Tours Pty Ltd, the charity was formally established with a Board of Directors appointed by its founding members.

 

The Board is elected every five years and is responsible for appointing the following key leadership roles:

  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

To become an Ordinary Member of Help a Family Ltd, you must be invited by a participating school. Please reach out to your nearest participating school to request an invitation.

APPLY TO BECOME an Ordinary Committee Member

Anyone can become an ordinary Committee Member - We are all ordinary people with extraordinary goals!

  • Any person may become an ordinary member.
  • By becoming an ordinary member, you are supporting the charity’s administrative costs and showing support for families in your local community.
  • All volunteers MUST become ordinary members.
  • A cost of $30p.a applies to ordinary committee members.
  • These fees go to the administrative costs for the charity.

To become a Senior Committee Member

  • Senior Committee Members are an advisory body and support network to the board of directors. The 18 Senior Board Members are selected by the Board of Directors who will consider all applications.
  • Senior Committee Members must be prepared to volunteer many hours of work to assist in the operation of the charity as required by the board.
  • Must be an ordinary member for a minimum period of 2 years.
  • Must be actively supporting or volunteering for this period.
  • Must nominate to the board and be approved by the board.
  • Senior Committee Members are limited to 18 people and shared between each state and territory of Australia.
  • Senior Committee Members vote for the Board of Directors.
  • Initial Senior Committee Members are appointed by the Board.

 

 

Apply to be a Board Member

A person may nominate to become a Board Member under the following conditions

  • Board Members are elected every three years and are responsible for the operation and direction of Help and family.
  • Board Members are responsible for the legal obligations and reporting requirements of the charity. They must be prepared to volunteer many hours of work to assist in the operation of the charity.
  • They must be Senior Committee member or a current board member.
  • They must nominate to a board member in writing as per the constitution.
  • They will ONLY remain as a Board Member as long as they remain serving the charity as a volunteer.
